Googles New SEO Rules
Google has recently made some pretty significant changes in its ranking algorithm.
The latest update, dubbed by Google forum users as "Allegra", has left some web
sites in the dust and catapulted others to top positions. Major updates like this can
happen a few times a year at Google, which is why picking the right search engine
optimization company can be the difference between online success and failure.
However, it becomes an increasingly difficult decision when SEO firms themselves
are suffering from the Allegra update.

Has Google Lost the Plot?
With the help of MSN, recently I?ve been reminiscing about the Google of old.
Remember those days? When you could take a good quality site, add a few
keywords, get a few incoming links and bada-bing, bada-boom, it?d be #1 on
Google? Remember the old days, pre-Florida, pre-sandbox? The days when we, as
search engine optimization specialists, didn?t feel like a private schoolgirl smoking
in the bathroom? When we didn?t feel like the iron fist would come crashing down at
any moment? Yes, those were the good old days. And MSN has finally brought them
back, though on a much smaller scale.

Hens Lay Eggs (HLE) by Silke Stahl
?HLE? is a bit of a joke term, (or possible tongue in cheek could be a better label) coined in my Network Marketing Group - it stands for "Hens Lay Eggs" and is a take on the exponential growth theory - recruit two people, who recruit two, etc, and in six weeks you'll have 50,000 people sending you $250,000 - the false promise of MLM.

High Google Rankings: Frequency vs. Positioning
There's an assumption that the higher a ranking or positioning you have with major search engines; the more people will beat a path to your web doorstep. The last 1.5 years have shown major changes in search engine behavior across the board. Algorithms change at random dates. Websites that ranked great in search results are suddenly completely wiped out from the search index. It becomes less and less predictable what a certain change to your website will get for results. A major change to a website or the way how it is promoted could have a major impact on search engine success for that website.

History of World / Regional Search Engines and Directories
Computers have become a way of life for people around the world. They are used to research term papers, check weather forecasts, track military progress, exchange ideas (blogs and chat) and to find the cheapest price on items etc. It is no surprise that as the computer age takes hold computer usage has increased. The number of websites that are being developed on the World Wide Web is growing at an ever increasing exponential amount.
